PNG InspectoRoaster
Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-09-06

One-sentence summary: your images are processed locally, in your browser — we never send the file, the file name, or any personal data to any server.

What runs only in your browser

The entire technical inspection of the PNG — resolution, transparency, noise, aspect ratio, color gamut simulation — happens entirely in your browser, using Chrome's own Canvas API. The image, the file name, and its content are never sent to any server of ours or any third party.

What is sent to our server (and why)

We use a Cloudflare Worker — our own infrastructure, with no analytics or advertising intermediary — only for these three functions:

1. Anonymous usage counters. When you inspect an image, generate a Publication Card, or verify a seal, we send an aggregate "+1" (total inspections, by platform, by usage type). It does not include the image, the file name, or any personal identifier — just a count per day.

2. Publication Card authenticity registration. If you (the seller) generate a Card, we register a technical summary of the file (score, resolution, platform, usage level, and a SHA-256 hash of the content — not the file itself) associated with an authenticity code. This is what lets a buyer later check whether that Card is genuine.

3. IP address. Used only transiently, in memory, during the request itself, to limit how many registrations can be made per hour and prevent abuse. It is never saved anywhere.

4. Optional thumbnail. If you (the seller) choose to include a thumbnail when generating a Card, we store a small, compressed, watermarked preview image (not the original file) so buyers can visually confirm the artwork on the public verification page. You can opt out of this at any time when generating a Card — if you do, the verification page shows a neutral message instead of an image.

What we don't do

We don't sell or share any data with third parties.
We don't use tracking cookies or advertising pixels.
We don't require account creation or login.
We have no ads inside the extension.

Chrome permissions we request

storage and unlimitedStorage: used to pass image data between the main window and the Publishing Assistant (image files can be large, hence the "unlimited" storage). This data stays only in your browser, it never leaves it.

Feedback form (optional)

If you use the feedback button, it opens a form on Tally.so (a third-party tool). No required question asks for email or name, and submitting it is entirely optional. See Tally.so's privacy policy to learn how they handle that data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this text if the extension gains new features that change how data is handled. The last-updated date always appears at the top of this page.
